Hi, I'm Clemens
I create visual worlds

Clemens Birsak is an illustrator from Salzburg with several years of experience in the advertising industry and a Master’s degree in media design. He creates digital illustrations and animations for various agencies and companies.

About me

My name is Clemens Birsak, and I am an Austrian-Australian illustrator and motion designer based in Salzburg. I develop illustrations, hidden-object pictures, and animations for companies, agencies, and cultural institutions. My style is versatile—ranging from modern vector illustrations to atmospheric, highly detailed works—always tailored to the specific purpose and medium.

With a background in media design and experience in the advertising industry, I work reliably and efficiently. My goal is always to create content that tells stories, strengthens brands, and conveys information clearly. My studio is located at Schrannengasse 10E, but my projects extend far beyond Salzburg.

I was born in 1993 in Salzburg, Austria, and grew up in a family of musicians. Art and culture have shaped my life from the very beginning, but my interests quickly expanded beyond music to include drawing and storytelling. While attending the Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg, I played the violin and simultaneously discovered my passion for visual design.

After graduating from high school, I pursued a degree in media design at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg, where I earned a Master of Arts in Arts and Design in 2018. During my studies, I focused intensively on illustration and developed a strong interest in visual storytelling. My first picture book, All The Best Things!, was created as part of my master’s thesis and further deepened my connection to narrative illustration.

After completing my degree, I worked for several years as a motion designer at an advertising agency in Salzburg, where I animated advertising campaigns and developed motion design content for clients across various industries. In 2021, I became self-employed to focus more on illustration and animation.

Today, I work closely with advertising agencies, companies, and cultural institutions to create visual content that tells stories, strengthens brands, and communicates information effectively. My clients come from industries such as advertising, tourism, culture, publishing, and the public sector.

A defining project in 2022 was the hidden-object illustration for the city of Salzburg, which helped establish my style regionally. Since then, I have also been offering hidden-object illustrations as a visual tool for corporate communication. These allow for the playful and detailed presentation of complex content and are particularly well-suited for magazines, city marketing, and image campaigns.

In addition to hidden-object illustrations, I create a wide range of illustrations and motion graphics used in both digital and print media: editorial illustrations, character designs (mascots), animated advertising campaigns, and more. My style is always tailored to the specific purpose—ranging from modern vector illustrations to atmospheric, highly textured works.

My clients appreciate my reliable, efficient, and solution-oriented approach. My studio is located in Schrannengasse 10E in Salzburg, but my projects extend far beyond the city limits.

How I Work

As an illustrator, I create visuals that clearly communicate content while being visually engaging.

The creative process typically begins with a sketch on paper, which I then refine digitally using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Depending on the project’s requirements, I choose between scalable vector graphics for clean, flexible designs or pixel-based illustrations that add depth through structured details and tactile effects.

I work with a Huion drawing display and use specialized digital tools to ensure precise and efficient execution. My focus is on crafting illustrations that not only look great but also tell stories, strengthen brands, and make complex content more accessible in a playful and engaging way.
